Outpost 31!

The Antarctic wind howls across the frozen wasteland as your helicopter descends toward Outpost 31. Emergency floodlights flicker against the snowstorm, casting long shadows across abandoned vehicles and half buried supply crates. Hours ago, all communication with the station ceased without explanation. The last transmission was fragmented, panicked, and abruptly cut short. Official reports blamed severe weather and equipment failure. Unofficially, the stories are far worse.

Inside the station, you discover signs of violence everywhere. Barricaded doors. Blood frozen into the floor. Equipment torn apart from within. Some of the surviving crew speak in whispers, while others refuse to speak at all. Everyone seems afraid of everyone else. Worse still, the station’s medical records reveal something deeply disturbing: blood tests, quarantine procedures, and repeated references to an organism capable of perfectly imitating living hosts.

But the truth hiding beneath Outpost 31 is far more terrifying than simple infection. As suspicion spreads through the station and trust begins to collapse, you realize the greatest danger may not be the thing stalking the corridors in the dark, but the growing fear that it could already be standing beside you.

The Thing is my favorite movie ever, this Scenario looks like so much fun! I’ll try printing it out and playing it with some friends!

I love The Thing in all of its iterations, and I’m super excited to play this! That said, I’ve found some typos that could be fixed in a future iteration:

    – Outpost 31: the third listing on either side of the card should read “lose 2 resources” instead of “loose 2 resources”.

    – R.J. MaCready: should be R.J. MacReady (this typo appears on several cards).

    – R.J. MaCready: he wasn’t the expedition leader in the story, but was the helicopter pilot.

    – Wilford Brimley: is the actor’s name, the character is Blair.

    – Wilford Brimley: the subtitle should read “Doesn’t Trust Anyone” to match capitalization of subtitles on official cards.

    – Elliot Childs: was played by Keith David, a black actor. This is a bigger ask, but at some point the artwork should be changed to reflect that.

    – The Thing: listed as “ELite” instead of “Elite”.

    – Trapped: text at the bottom of the card runs into the border.

    – Short on Trust: text at the bottom of the card runs into the border.

    – Infected: text at the bottom of the card runs into the border.

    – Organism (Monstrous Growth): artist Roland MacDonald’s name is misspelled as MaCDonald

I don’t intend for this to come off as critical or nitpicky! You’ve done a ton of incredible work on this project, and it really shows!

Also, delighted to see the S.T.A.R.S. office sneak in as the Office location!
